Mark Dean – mdean@siennaranch.org
Pastor
Mark Dean first came to Missouri City in August of 1997 when Colony Baptist called him to be our pastor. He served at Colony until the church merged becoming Sienna Ranch, where he continues to serve as pastor. Growing up, Mark lived in Detroit, Hong Kong, and Ft Worth. He received a BA degree in Communications from Mississippi College and a MDiv degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In 1979, Mark married Marcia, his high school sweetheart. The Dean’s have two grown children: Sarah an elementary school teacher and Bryan who works in sports management. Previously Mark was the pastor of First Baptist Church of Ganado, Texas from 1987 – 1997 and Clark Baptist Church of Gonzales, Texas from 1984 – 1987.
Mark’s passions are visiting with people, seeing God at work in lives; teaching the Word of God, applying truth in a simple, comprehensible way; going where no one else will go to do what no one else will do; and sitting under a mango tree with the Mankanya people of West Africa. Mark enjoys sharing a meal with friends, reading, and sports.
Oliver Scott – oscott@siennaranch.org
Pastor of Worship
Oliver Scott’s mother was the worship leader at a small Pentecostal church in Waco. Along with the rest of his siblings, his musical talents originated and were nurtured by his mother in the church. Desiring to become a professional musician, Oliver moved with his brothers to Los Angeles and formed a band. While in Los Angeles he was invited to join The Gap Band. From 1979 to 1983, his responsibilities steadily increased with the band, from sideman in the horn section, to keyboard/vocalist, songwriter, and bandleader. Oliver wrote many of the groups “album cuts” during this time including the R&B classic “Yearning For Your Love” and the 1984 GRAMMY nominated “Where Are We Going”. In July of 1983, Oliver accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His response to God’s faithfulness opened up his heart to the lifelong study of the Word of God. It was God’s direction that led Oliver to redirect his gifts to leading followers of Christ in worship. From 1987 to 2012 Oliver ministered at Joy Tabernacle/Genesis Church in Houston, as well as writing, producing, and participating in numerous Gospel projects. Oliver and his lovely wife Evelyn have 6 children – DeWane, Dominique, Eryn, Jonathan, Alexi, and Milayah.

Mark Choate – mchoate@siennaranch.org
Pastor In Residence
Mark Choate brings a broad variety of skills and experiences to the table to communicate God’s work effectively. Trusting Christ at 21 years old and starting back to college at 27, he worked while going to college in a gasket factory, then took his BBA in Accounting into the business world in a CPA firm. After two years the conviction grew that God was building a burden for ministry, and he left for Dallas Theological Seminary to get a four-year ThM degree. Graduation led to ministry in SETECA (in Spanish), a seminary in Guatemala where he taught up to the Master’s level for eight years. Following that he was a senior pastor for a turn-around church for thirteen years, and now serves as “Pastor in Residence” at Sienna Ranch.
Mark met Rosa Maria in El Salvador while on a summer trip during his studies at DTS. Married in 1985—the same week as graduation!—they’ve been blessed with five children who include a 25 yr old married daughter who is a Lt. jg in the Navy, a recent grad from Nursing School, a senior and a freshman at A&M and a junior in High School. They are all bi-and tri-nationals, reflecting his marriage and ministry over the last thirty years.
Mark has a passion for seeing the Word become reality in the Christian life, and delights in the ever-new Bible as God unfolds His message. Fun for Mark is reading, getting together with the kids, spending time with Rosa Maria and seeing lives change as Christ comes alive in them.
